Faustino – I – Gran Reserva 2001

From the Spanish, family owned Bodegas Faustino, the 2001 Faustino I Reserva is made with mostly Tempranillo grapes, along with Graciano and Mazuelo. It was aged in a mix of French and American oak barrels for 26 months before being bottled. A good red wine also calls for a gorgeous bottle, hence why this comes in a frosted bottle with a traditional portrait on the label.

Smooth and well rounded.

Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva 2006 Red Wine

Campo Viejo Rioja Reserva 2006 Red Wine

From http://www.winesfromspainusa.com/wine/campo-viejo-reserva

Tasting Note
One of the stalwarts of old-school Rioja, Campo Viejo’s Reserva shows a mushroomy, toasty, and forest floor nose, and rather than a big and lush fruit basket of aromas, this has red cherries and currants, as well as darker cherries and plums. The mouth is round, almost lush, though tartness (even citrus!) and stoniness garner just as much attention as the riper fruits. The finish has length and toasted mushrooms. Drink now or in the next five years.
Wine Description
Produced in a typical Rioja style, Campo Viejo displays a fruit-driven influence. The wines show good fruit concentration and balance influenced by the use of American oak, which is the hallmark of Campo Viejo. The wine expresses a complex nose of blackberry, cherry, and black plum balanced with aromas of clove, pepper, vanilla, and coconut. On the palate, it is a smooth, full, elegant, and balanced wine with a long finish.
About the Winery

This cutting-edge DOCa Rioja winery was fully operational starting with the 2002 vintage and is situated at the premium estate of Santa Cruz, which borders the old Roman road from Logrono to Fuenmayor. Built underground and covered entirely by vegetation, the winery not only offers the latest in winemaking facilities to ensure the utmost attention to quality, but also serenity, stable humidity and temperature, as well as natural ventilation. Campo Viejo sources grapes from its own high-quality estate vineyards surrounding the winery, where the soils are perfectly balanced with sand, loam, and clay. Additional grapes are sourced from controlled vineyards within the Rioja Alta region, where the growing cycle, viticultural practices, and grading are strictly controlled by the Campo Viejo winemaker.

Château Ramage La Batisse Red Wine Bordeaux Cru Bourgeois 75cl (Single bottle)

If you’ve ever wished you’d bought great vintage Cru Bourgeois claret years ago so you could enjoy it now, at perfect maturity, and congratulate yourself on its outstanding value vis à vis current vintages, Château Ramage la Batisse Haut-Médoc 2003 is a godsend.
From Bordeaux himself, our Buyer Jean Marc has many friends in the region and was contacted by one about this 2003. The family had held onto the wine, but now needed space in the cellar, so were offering it at a great price.

With an amazing 10 medals to its name and its ripe, rounded harmony of flavours, the wine was a must have. All cedar wood, cassis and liquorice complexity, this is classic Haut Médoc. Stand the bottle upright a few hours, then decant before serving with lamb.
